Lee Carsley has shared his thoughts on whether he could take on the England job again and opened up on working with new boss Thomas Tuchel.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  New Three Lions boss Tuchel is currently preparing for his first games in charge after succeeding Gareth Southgate in the hotseat. Southgate left after Euro 2024, with Carsley subsequently appointed as interim boss before Tuchel started his new job at the turn of the year. Carsley oversaw five wins and one loss in six Nations League matches with England but isn't sure if he'd take the job again if it was offered.

  WHAT CARSLEY SAID

  He told when asked if he would take an interim role again: "I think I need to make sure that I keep improving. It's important that, especially with this group, that I keep pushing myself. Who knows what happens in the future? It's something that I enjoyed. It's something that we showed we can do as a staff. And like I said, I'm really happy and content with the Under-21s. I really enjoy my job. I'm very privilege so, who knows?"

  Carsley is back working with the Under-21s but will still have plenty of contact with Tuchel and admits he's been getting to know the new man in charge this week at St. George's Park. He added: "It's been good. Just getting to know someone, not only Thomas but his staff as well. It's obviously different, we had Gareth Southgate for eight years, but we're enjoying Thomas and his staff at the minute. I'm trying to support them as much as I can and it was good some of the players went over. We have good communication and hopefully that will continue."

  WHAT NEXT FOR ENGLAND

  All eyes will be on Tuchel's side on Friday when they kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Albania at Wembley. The new boss has raised a few eyebrows by including the likes of Dan Burn and Jordan Henderson in his squad, and England will be expected to win comfortably before going on go face Latvia on Monday.
